About the Deliverable

The Automated Monitoring Systems act as the "eyes" of the Eco-Beachtech project, providing a continuous and reliable flow of data from the field. This deliverable was developed to address the monitoring needs at the pilot beaches of Lesvos, Lemnos, and Cyprus, ensuring the scientific documentation of coastal changes.

Through the installation of four integrated stations (cameras, meteorological stations, wave gauges), the system allows for the recording of morphodynamic processes in real time. Data analysis is performed using sophisticated tools, taking into account extreme weather conditions and the impact of storms on the coastline.

These systems are a vital assessment tool, as the data collected:

  • Feed the geospatial database and flood models with precision measurements.
  • Enable the immediate evaluation of the effectiveness of protection interventions.
  • Support the development of early warning strategies for coastal erosion.

Consequently, automated monitoring serves as the guarantor of Eco-Beachtech’s scientific validity, ensuring that coastal management is based on real data and the accurate measurement of natural phenomena.
