About the Deliverable

The Updated Geospatial Database constitutes one of the central pillars of the Eco-Beachtech project, as it provides the necessary scientific and technical infrastructure to address risks in the marine and coastal zone.

This deliverable was created by the University of the Aegean and the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence, with the aim of recording, organizing, and analyzing data for the beaches of Lesvos, Lemnos, and Cyprus.

Through the integration of satellite data, field measurements, and advanced simulation models, the database allows for the assessment of coastal flood risk. The analysis is conducted for both current conditions and under two climate change scenarios, taking into account the rise in mean and extreme sea levels.

This database is a vital management tool, as the data produced:

  • Feed the hydrodynamic models used for the design of environmentally friendly technical protection solutions.
  • Contribute to the Marine Spatial Planning of Greece and Cyprus.
  • Support competent authorities in making informed decisions regarding the adaptation of coastal zones to climate change.

Consequently, the geospatial database serves as the compass for Eco-Beachtech’s actions, ensuring that protection decisions are based on updated scientific data and accurate forecasts.
