Brief Profile & Role
The Regional Development Fund of the North Aegean (RDF NA) constitutes a key institution for the promotion of development policy and the effective implementation of the Region's Operational Programmes. It is a Legal Entity of Private Law, established in February 1998, with its headquarters in Mytilene. Its operation is governed by Law 2218/94 and subsequent amendments, while it is under the supervision of the Coordinator of the Decentralized Administration of the Aegean.
The central role of the RDF NA is to support the North Aegean Region in the participation and management of operational programmes—both national and European—as well as in its participation in transnational and interregional collaborations. Through this action, the RDF NA contributes substantially to improving the administrative capacity of the North Aegean Region and to the implementation of projects that enhance the economic, social, and environmental development of the North Aegean islands.
The RDF NA operates as a technical and financial support mechanism, providing project design, maturation, monitoring, and management services. Its goal is to ensure that resources are utilized in the most effective manner for the benefit of local communities. At the same time, it facilitates cooperation with European and national bodies, strengthening the outward orientation and the capacity of the North Aegean Region to participate in international initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the RDF NA reflect its operational and developmental role:
- Payment Management: Its primary responsibility is managing payments, as it functions as the accountable manager for the vast majority of projects and actions within the Public Investment Programme of the North Aegean Region.
- EU Projects: It possesses significant expertise in the design, participation, management, and implementation of Operations co-financed by the EU ESIF (European Structural and Investment Funds), representing the North Aegean Region in collaborations and funding schemes at the European level.
- NSRF Support: It plays an equally important role within the framework of the NSRF (National Strategic Reference Framework), where it contributes to the maturation and implementation of projects and actions that strengthen the development and cohesion of the North Aegean islands.
- Technical Support: The RDF NA provides technical and scientific support to the services of the North Aegean Region, acting as a mechanism to reinforce administrative structures and ensuring the proper implementation of critical development initiatives.
